Intr-un viitor apocaliptic, planeta Pamant a devenit un teren ostil pentru fiintele umane. Furtunile de nisip sunt din ce in ce mai frecvente, pamantul nu mai poate fi cultivat din cauza ca a devenit foarte arid. Cooper, un fost pilot devenit agricultor locuieste impreuna cu familia sa la ferma. Cand o forta pe care nu o poate explica ii indica coordonatele unei divizii secrete apartinand NASA, acesta este nevoit sa se imbrace intr-o misiune de expeditie pentru a salva umanitatea si pentru a gasi un nou loc in care oamenii sa fie gazduiti. Fiica lui Cooper nu poate accepta faptul ca este abandonata in acest fel de tatal sau.
In the near future, Earth has been devastated by drought and famine, causing a scarcity in food and extreme changes in climate.
